Death
Dwight Council McIntosh 'Mac' Mr. McIntosh, 93, of Charlotte died Wednesday, February 17, 2010 at his daughter's home in Concord. A native of Gaston County, NC, Mr. McIntosh was born to the late Uarl B. McIntosh and Callie Allison McIntosh on June 1, 1916. He began work with P & N Railroad in 1936, where he held numerous positions until being promoted to freight agent in 1947. Mr. McIntosh began working with Pilot Freight Carriers in 1951 and was promoted to district manager in Baltimore in 1960. He returned to Charlotte in 1970 and retired from Pilot Freight Carriers in 1981. Mr. McIntosh was a charter member of the Carolina Traffic and Transportation Club, the Gastonia Traffic and Transportation Club, a life member of the Charlotte Traffic and Transportation Club, Oasis Shrine Temple, the Scottish Rite, Steele Creek Masonic Lodge #737 and the Mecklenburg Chapter of the Sons of the Revolution. He was also a member of Pritchard Memorial Baptist Church and the Grady Faile Business Mens Class. Mr. McIntosh was preceded in death by his loving wife of 54 years, Audrey O. 'Polly' McIntosh. Mr. McIntosh is survived by his daughter, Patricia A. Springs and husband Charles B. Springs of Concord, NC; step-daughter, Betty M. Kontgias and husband Peter P. Kontgias of Brownsville, TX; sister, Rachel M. Moss of Charlotte; three grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, six great-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m., Saturday, February 20 at Pritchard Memorial Baptist Church. Entombment will follow in the mausoleum in Sharon Memorial Park. The family will receive friends 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Friday, February 19 at McEwen Funeral Service, Derita Chapel.Published by Charlotte Observer on Feb. 18, 2010
