Col. Archie A. Rider came to the JSU campus as professor of military science in charge of the Army ROTC program in 1980. He is a native of Rienzi, Miss., and has been in the U. S. Army since 1955. He was promoted to colonel in 1976. He holds a Bachelor of SciencC from the University of Arkansas and a master's from Catholic University of America. Before coming to JSU, he was author and instructor at Command and General Staff College and author and instructor at the U. S. Army Aviation School. He has earned numerous military awards including the Distinguished Service Cross, Legion of Merit, Distinguished Flying Cross with one Oak Leaf Cluster, and the Bronze Star Medal. Rider will retire from the Army in February, 1985, and his departure from JSU is pending a replacement.Endnotes
