Death
Lyndolph Ward, 70, of Beebe died April 4, 1998. He was a retired sergeant major in the U.S. Marine Corps, and the first to be allowed to serve the corp beyond 30 years. He was an Iwo Jima Survivor, and a veteran of the Korean and Vietnam wars. He received numerous commendations and awards for bravery, heroism and inspirational leadership. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church at Searcy. Survivors include his wife, Viva Lee Ward; a daughter, Karen Ward Ault of Little Rock; three grandchildren; and a sister, Teresa Dyes. Graveside service was April 6 at the National Cemetery, Little Rock, by Westbrook Funer al Home, Beebe. Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church at Searcy for the Development of the Youth Program.Endnotes
