Death
Betty Elizabeth Furr, age 87 of Canton, GA, passed away on Wednesday, March 27, 2024. A Graveside Service will be held at 1:30 PM on Sunday, April 7, 2024 at Rockbridge Baptist Church Cemetery, 3581 Centerville Highway, Snellville, GA, with Cheryl (Furr) Baker and Pastor Russ Butcher officiating. Betty was a member of Brookwood Baptist Church. She was one of the first people baptized in Atlanta by Dr. Charles Stanley. She was approximately 19 and he was approximately 21. Betty was a woman of faith and was involved with the churches she attended. She was part of the Gwinnett County Community for many years. Betty loved her family, working in her yard, and her dog. She also enjoyed bird watching in later years, pencil artwork, knitting and sewing. She was also a hairdresser for 10 to 12 years and loved Elvis. Betty was preceded in death her mother, Lanie (Freeman) Boyd; father, William Brownlee; grandson, Gary Blake Baker; and the father of her children, Gary Cooper Furr, whom she was married to for 25 years. Surviving are her daughter and son-in-law, Cheryl (Furr) and Thomas Baker of Monroe, GA; daughter, Robin Leah (Furr) McMillen of Canton; son and daughter-in-law, Neal Scott and Deanna Furr of Atlanta; grandchildren, Thomas Brad and Crystal Baker, Megan Elizabeth Furr, Travis Scott Furr and Amber Lober, Kristen (McMillen) and James Smith, and Nick Steven McMillen; great grandchildren, Tyler Furr, Hunter Furr, Caleb Baker, Ryder Furr, Owen Baker, Archer Smith, Crew Smith, and Reid Baker; beloved pet, Webbster; numerous family and friends.
