Death
Margaret Elaine Furr, age 81, of Lincolnton, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday October 24th, 2020 at her home. A native of Yancey County, she was a daughter of the late Talmadge and Buelah Grindstaff Woody of Green Mountain. She was also preceded in death by her 2nd husband, Earl Thomas; sisters: Willa Mae Suttles and Betty Wyatt and brothers: Edgel, Junior, Eranious and Larry Woody. Margaret was a member of Double Island Baptist Church and enjoyed watching their services. She lived with her daughter in Lincolnton. Margaret enjoyed cooking and gathering recipes, spending time with her grandchildren, feeding and watching hummingbirds outside her window and spending days with her favorite home caretaker and best friend, Carolyn Cauthen. She had a big interest in learning anything to do with the medical field. Her favorite times were when her family came to visit! Surviving is her children: Christopher Alvarez of Maiden, Cindy Curtis and husband, Tracy, of Old Fort and Carla Alvarez of Lincolnton; grandchildren: Nicholas Curtis, Michael Alvarez, Alexa Ikerd and Tori Alvarez; great-grandchildren: Skylar Broome, Nathyn Burroughs and Gracie Alvarez; sisters: Peggy Wyatt of Marion and Patsy McKinney of Swannanoa and father of her children, Anthony Alvarez, Jr. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, October 28th in the Double Island Baptist Church Cemetery. Rev. Rick Woody and Pastor Dwayne Turner will officiate.Endnotes
