Notes
Death
Bessie Marlene Culpepper Venus is the heart of a large and joyous Heavenly reunion. Jesus is there as her Savior, as is her father, James Gordon Culpepper; her mother, Natalie Stone Culpepper; her daughter, Dana Natalie Venus Hoover; her brother, James Gordon Culpepper, Jr.; daughter-in-law, Dorothy; and a large gathering of grandparents (the Culpepper and Stone tribes); aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. She was Marlene to some, but MaMaw to all. Born in Watson Chapel, Arkansas on November 12, 1932, Marlene passed away on October 1, 2020, in her log cabin home in North Pulaski County, Arkansas, at the age of 87 years. In 1955, Marlene earned a Bachelor's of Arts in Business Administration from Ouachita Baptist College in Arkadelphia, Arkansas. Marlene loved flower growing and gardening. She always had her assortment of dogs, horses and cats. She was a long-time member of Park Hill Baptist Church, and the North Little Rock Women's Club, where she served as president. In time, Marlene will have other joyous reunions: with her husband for 64 years, Charles Edward Venus, her son Charles Edward Venus, Jr. and wife Vickie, Daughter, Stacy Lea Venus Furr and husband Wayne, son-in-law Troy Christopher Hoover, niece Janis Culpepper Sutton, and nephew James Gordon Culpepper III. Then Marlene will be reunited with her grandchildren: Andrea Lea Venus Barber, Sydney Darlene Venus, Troy Christopher Hoover, Jr., Sarah Marlene Hoover, Taylor Renee Hoover, Morgan LeeAnn Furr Coulter, Jordan Wayne Furr; and Great Grandchildren Kinsley Jo Barber and Emma Joe Coulter. All of the Reunions will be happy one's, just as Marlene's is. Funeral Services will be held 10:00 A.M., Wednesday, October 7, 2020 at Roller-Owens Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will be the night prior from 4:00 P.M.-8:00 P.M., with family receiving from 6:00 P.M.-8:00 P.M., in our Chapel. Roller-Owens Funeral Home will be following guidelines issued by the Arkansas Department of Health and the CDC regarding COVID-19. Social distancing of at least six feet must be practiced and all funeral attendees must provide and wear their own masks.Endnotes
