Death

Peggy Arlene Jordan Furr, 81, of Locust, NC, passed away Monday, November 20, 2023 at her home. Her memorial service will be 4pm Saturday, November 25, 2023 in the Stanly Funeral and Cremation Care Chapel of Locust with Pastor Thomas Childers officiating. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 2:30pm till 3:45pm prior to the service. She was born July 21, 1942 in Stanly County, NC to the late James Bennett Jordan, Sr. and Elizabeth Love Copley Jordan. Peggy retired from S&D Hosiery of Locust. She was raised Baptist in Albemarle and was a member of Bethel Baptist Church of Locust, NC. In 1960 she sang for the Governor Election. She loved spending time with her family at the beach and going to Rainbow Lake on the 4th of July. Peggy was preceded in death by her husband of 26 years, John Paulie Furr, Sr. She is survived by two sons, Coy Wayne Hathcock, II (Starla) of Stanfield, NC and John Paulie Furr, Jr. of Locust, NC; three daughters, Dare Hathcock of Shelby, NC, Tammy H. Smith (Ron) of Stanfield, NC and Leslie H. Coleman (Jeff) of Locust, NC; a brother, James B. Jordan, Jr. (Kathy) of Charlotte, NC; a sister, Jan J. Thompson (Randy) of Hickory, NC; ten grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren. Peggy was also preceded in death by a sister, Linda Jordan Burris.
