Death
Rex, also known as Joe Boy or the Pepsi Man, passed away Tuesday, August 25, 2020. He was born May 21, 1959 in Sallisaw, Oklahoma to Jimmie J. T. Dunn and Beulah A. Dunn. He attended public schools and loved playing football for them, “Go Wolverines!” Rex graduated from Vian High School with the class of 1978. Rex began working at OI Brockway right out of high school and made life-long friendships working there. He met and later married Debbie Henry on June 7, 1979 in Sallisaw, Oklahoma. They shared many memories in her short time here and welcomed their only child, LaTosha, in February of 1981. Rex enjoyed cheering for the OU Sooners football team and the 49ers, going to the horse races with his brothers, and daily trips the Beacon Drive Inn for a Pepsi. Most important was spending time with his family, especially his daughter and grandchildren. In 2009, Rex was diagnosed with Huntington’s Disease. His family was very active in raising Huntington’s awareness and participated in the yearly Ft. Smith Walk of Hope in his honor. The family would like to express their thanks to Rex’s caretakers, Pat Flinn, Dr. Gay Parker for all of her assistance and understanding, Hometown Hospice for the exceptional care, and the Ft. Smith Huntington’s Support group, especially, Sandee Farley, for all of their support and information. Rex was preceded in death by his wife, Debbie; parents, J.T. and Beulah Dunn; siblings, Georgia Whittenburg, Charles “Tony” Webster, and Kathy Buttery. He is survived by his daughter, LaTosha Furr and husband Mitchell of Muskogee; siblings, Mary McClure of Vian, Helen McHenry of Sallisaw, Jack Webster of Bowie, TX, William “Pete” Webster of Baytown, TX, Edgar “Bo” Webster of Vian, Edna “Fay” Webster of Sallisaw, Ricky Dunn of Arlington, TX, Virginia “Skeeter” Dunn of Muskogee, James “Judge” Dunn of Muskogee, Danny “Bebe” Dunn of Gore, and Patricia “Patty Pooh” Dunn of Sallisaw; grandchildren, Camryn Furr and Jaxon Furr; of Muskogee; stepdaughter, Lacy “Dweebie” Smith of Ft Bragg, NC; numerous nieces, nephews, co-workers of OI Brockway, member of the Vian class of 1978, adopted brother and sister, Darrell Gilbert and Mary Gilbert; and numerous friends. A family conducted graveside memorial service is planned for Monday 8/31/2020 at 1 pm at Garden of Memories Cemetery in Vian, OK.
