Death
Leah Marie Furr, 70, former resident of the Gridley and Live Oak area, died Sunday at Lucerne, California. She was born August 13, 1899, in Quapaw, Oklahoma and had lived In the Gridley-Live Oak area for about 25 years before moving to Lucerne four years ago. She was a member of Vernon Chapter, No. 35, Order of Eastern Star, Gridley, and a former member of the Gridley First Presbyterian Church. Surviving are her husband, Walter of Lucerne; brothers, Claude and Harvey Chubb, both of Denver, Colorado; a foster daughter, Mrs. Elsie Mitchell of Barstow; a stepson, James Furr of Live Oak; stepdaughters, Mrs. Juanita Wooton of Farmersville, Mrs. Mary Lee Myers of Oklahoma City, Okla., Betty Flo Freeman of Live Oak, LaNadine Sorrill of Eureka and Darlene Wallace of Florida; and numerous step-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 10:00 a.m. at the Block Home with Rev. Bob Meaner of the First Presbyterian Church officiating.
