Notes
Death
Last Sunday a message was received in Bloomfield coveying the sad news that Mrs. Fay Furr, (nee Virginia Jamison) had died at two o'clock in the afternoon of June 29th at the home of her uncle, W. S. Goodin in Ragland, Alabama. The body of Mrs. Furr accompanied by her grief stricken family, arrived in Bloomfield Tuesday at three o’clock. A large number of her friends and relative met the funeral train and from the station proceeded to the Baptist church where the funeral services were conducted. At the conclusion of the church service the funeral cortege of relatives and countless friends proceeded to the Bloomfield cemetery where the last, sad rites were said, and the mortal body of their lovely and beloved friend was deposited in the grave by those who had loved her dearly and tenderly in life. The tears and sobs of those who stood at the graveside did not measure the grief in their hearts. The beautiful floral tributes placed upon the grave was only a weak token of their love and sorrow, but not a measure of that love and sorrow. The love and grief in the hearts of those that were there cannot be expressed in words or tears—only the mind .and heart that have experienced it, can know that boundless love and poignant grief. Rev. S. H. Hardy, pastor of the Dexter Baptist church, conducted the funeral services. Mrs. Furr, better known here as Virginia Margaret Jamison, was born in Jefferson City, Missouri, January 19, 1901. Soon afterwards her parents moved to Iola, Kansas where they lived until she was about twelve years of; age. They then moved to Santa Rita, New Mexico. Virginia, as she was affectionately known by her friends here was married, March 7, 1921, at Silver City, New Mexico, to Mr. Fay Furr of Deming, New Mexico, where they lived at the time of her death. Mrs. Furr was a devout christian being a member of the Episcopal church. She was a grand daughter of the late Stephen Chapman and Mrs. Nancy Chapman now of Bloomfield, and a niece of Mrs. Louie Jobe of Little Rock, Ark. Mrs. Furr made frequent visits to her Bloomfield relatives and by her beautiful character, gracious manner, and loving, sunny disposition, she endeared herself to all who knew her. No memorial, however carefully and lovely penned, can give any adequate idea of her many virtues. The relatives from out of town who attended the funeral were her husband, Mr. Fay Furr, her father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. Jamison, El Paso, Texas; her uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. Louie Jobe and cousin, Miss Jane Jobe, Little Rock, Arkansas; her uncle Don Chapman; Colorado Springs, Colo and her uncle W. S. Goodin, Ragland, Alabama. The loving sympathy of the entire community is extended to the bereaved family. We remind them that “Life is ever Lord of Death and love can never lose its own.” Virginia has closed the book of a beautiful life but she still lives in our hearts. “To live in hearts we leave behind is not to die.”The Bloomfield Vindicator, Bloomfield, Missouri, July 4, 1924
