Death

Bill R. Krimminger slipped away peacefully at Tucker Hospice House while his daughter, Lori, slept on the couch just feet away from him, Friday, Nov. 5, 2021. A native of Cabarrus County, Bill graduated from Mt. Pleasant High School in 1955. After working at several places in the Concord and Charlotte area, he came to the conclusion that he preferred working for himself. Soon after that realization, he started Krimminger Machine Co. Inc. (KMC) on his family's farmland—where the pig-pen was, to be precise. He and his beloved wife, Vergie, built a successful company that thrived for decades. Bill was known for being good to his employees, taking them on annual fishing trips and throwing festive Christmas parties at Lake Lynn Lodge every year. After selling KMC in the mid-1990s, he got his contractor license and began building houses and developing land. There was nothing he enjoyed more than making deals, and he was good at it. He eventually fulfilled his dream of purchasing a motorhome and traveling across the country with his beautiful wife. Though he loved being "the boss" in all facets of his life, he enjoyed the role of father the most. His daughter, Lori Elizabeth Krimminger Tate, was the light of his life, and he always made certain that she had everything she needed to be successful. That included a college education, as he always joked that he graduated from the "school of hard knocks." Bill enjoyed pulling his daughter waterskiing and tubing on Lake Tillery, where he and Vergie owned a vacation cottage for 49 years. Their lake parties are legendary, as are his burgers and barbecue chicken. Bill and Vergie built their dream home in Lake Shore Estates in 1980, complete with a dance floor, so they could throw even more parties. Though he worked day and night building his business, he always made time to drive his daughter to school and attend her concerts and plays. When she married John Garren Tate, a fellow car enthusiast, Bill was thrilled, even though John is a Ford guy, and Bill was a true Chevy man. Lori will be forever grateful for the love and support her father gave her throughout her life. Bill's generous spirit can be seen throughout Cabarrus County and beyond because he believed in sharing all that he had. He attended Cold Springs United Methodist Church most of his life, where he was active participant in United Methodist Men. He was also a member of the Mt. Pleasant Lions Club. Almost 12 years ago, Bill became a grandfather to Graydon Garren and Margot Elizabeth Tate, "The Tater Tots." He was beyond proud of his grandchildren and all of their achievements. He looked forward to having weekly meals with them, in addition to seeing Graydons' latest Lego creations and hearing Margot sing. Bill was heartbroken when he lost Vergie to Cancer in August 2019. They were married for 60 years, together for 64, and he tried to make the best of life without her. Lori takes comfort in knowing that they are together again, going on more adventures together. Bill is survived by his daughter, Lori Elizabeth Krimminger Tate (John) of Cornelius; grandchildren, Graydon Garren and Margot Elizabeth Tate, of Cornelius; and brother, Bob Krimminger (Wanda) of Locust. He was preceded in death by his wife, Vergie Elizabeth Furr Krimminger; niece, Jackie Krimminger; parents, Adam Michael and Annie Harker Krimminger: and half siblings, James Krimminger, Katherine Krimminger Cheek, Sidney Krimminger and Mary Krimminger Williams. A private committal service will be held at Cold Springs United Methodist Church's columbarium. Memorials can be made to Cabarrus Hospice and Palliative Care, 5003 Hospice Lane, Kannapolis, NC 28081.
