Death
CONCORD – Peggy Taylor Furr, age 84, went to her Heavenly home on Wednesday, January 9, 2019. Funeral services will be held at noon on Friday, January 11 in the chapel of Wilkinson Funeral Home with Pastor Gary Posey officiating. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to noon at Wilkinson Funeral Home. Peggy’s parent, William T. and Ruby Wallace Taylor, welcomed her, their only child, into this world on February 26, 1934. She was born and raised in Concord, where she spent her entire life. She was a lab technician and started her career at Cabarrus Memorial Hospital before transferring to H&M Medical Center. She then went to work for Dr. Whitley, where she retired from. Peggy became a widow in 1982 when her beloved husband, Olin L. Furr, passed away. She loved going to the beach, especially Holden Beach, where she shared a beach home with her parents. She had other family and friends that had homes at Holden Beach also. She enjoyed eating seafood and walking on the beach and collecting shells. She was a member of Victory Temple and in her younger years had attended Pine Grove Baptist Church and Concord Tabernacle. Peggy enjoyed participating in the Adult Senior programs at First Assembly and she formerly attended Red Hat Society meetings which she also enjoyed. She loved children and even though she never was able to have any of her own, she was proud that she had a hand in helping to raise her goddaughter, Lori Joyner, whom she loved and claimed as her own. She was very proud of her nieces and cherished the time she spent with them. She was a true servant and loved the Lord, a faithful friend, and most of all a beautiful person inside and out. Memorials may be made to Second Blessings Clothing Closet Ministry, c/o Forest Hill UMC, 265 Union Street N, Concord NC 28025.Endnotes
