Death
Ted Wilson Hinson, 76, of Oakboro, passed away on Friday, August 7, 2020 at Hospice of Union County. A graveside service will be held at 11AM on Monday, August 10, 2020 in the Mineral Springs Baptist Church Cemetery. Mr. Hinson was born May 31, 1944 in Union County to the late Carl Wilson Hinson and Eva Mae Hinson. Ted graduated Reppert Auction School in Decatur, IN in 1962. He started auctioning professionally after graduating and has been auctioning ever since. He owned and operated Hinson’s Auction House for 50 plus years and founded the Big Lick Festival Park as well. Ted was a member and deacon at Mineral Springs Baptist Church. Mr. Hinson genuinely loved people and spending time with family and friends. He MC’d the 4th of July festival in Oakboro for many years as well. Ted is survived by his wife of 54 years Janis Furr Hinson; sons Jeffrey Hinson (Quincey) of Oakboro, and Eric Hinson of Oakboro; daughters: Lesley Hinson of Oakboro, and Leah Fesperman (Justin) of Richfield; grandchildren: Collin Hinson, Addison Hinson, Luke Hinson, Cade Hinson, Oliver Fesperman, and Eva Mae Fesperman; and brother Doug Hinson of Rock Hill, SC. He was preceded in death by his brothers Durrell Hinson and Roy Hinson, and his sister Sandra Thomas. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Hospice of Union County at 700 W Roosevelt Blvd, Monroe, NC 28110.
