Death

WEATHERFORD -- Sammie C. Tillery, 76, passed away early on Monday, Feb. 19, 2018, at Hilltop Nursing & Rehab in Weatherford. FUNERAL: Celebrating his life will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 23, 2018, at Galbreaith-Pickard Funeral Chapel, 913 N. Elm Street, Weatherford. BURIAL: Will follow at Jones Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 22, at the funeral home. Sammie was born on June 16, 1941, in Weatherford to Sam and Verna Tillery. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy. Sammie worked for Harry's Greenhouse for many years before retiring from the city of Weatherford in the street department. He enjoyed riding his Honda Gold Wing and playing his drums in several local bands. Sammie will be remembered for his quick-wit and sense of humor. Most of all, Sammie enjoyed spending time with his family. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Hilltop Nursing & Rehab in Weatherford and particularly Valerie, Tawana "Tracy", Kendra, Christy, and Beverly. In addition to his parents, Sammie was preceded in death by his first wife, Betty. SURVIVORS: Sammie is survived by his wife, Pearline; his children, Janeie (Mark) Furr, Tracy (Johnny) Anthony, DeWayni (Jeff) Earls, Anne Massie, Allen Sutton, and Sherry Kirk; his grandchildren, Michael, Jeremy, Courtney, Josh, Lauren, Lynze, Dylan, Samantha, Jessie, Katja, Courtney, Austin, Xavier and Sebastian; 15 great-grandchildren; and numerous cousins.
