Death
M. Denman Plew, 77, passed away at his home surrounded by family on Friday, Dec. 2, 2016. Memorial service: 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 7, at All Saint Lutheran Church, 4325 SW Green Oaks Blvd., Arlington, 76017. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Denman's name to All Saints Lutheran Church Chancel Choir, 4325 SW Green Oaks Blvd., Arlington, Texas 76017; or Punch Out Parkinson's at Paulie Ayala Foundation POP, 6913 W. Camp Bowie Blvd., Suite 141, Fort Worth, Texas, 76116, or on-line at punchingouparkinson.org/donations. Denman was born Jan. 2, 1939, at his family's farmhouse in Thompson, Pa. He graduated from Union Endicott High School in New York and attended Baptist Bible Seminary. While enrolled in seminary, Denman trained and received his optician's license. Over the course of his career, he owned several of his own businesses and served as the team optician for the Washington Redskins. Denman's church home has been at All Saints Lutheran Church in Arlington where he served as the president of the church council, part-time music minister and a member of the church choir. Denman had a spirit of adventure and loved to travel, especially if that meant that he got to drive. He was fascinated by trains and enjoyed his garden railroad set. He enjoyed playing on church and community softball leagues as well as sailing. Denman had a passion for gospel music, especially Southern Gospel quartets, and was a gifted music arranger. He sang in a Gospel quartet with his father and two brothers for years. He was preceded in death by his parents, Austin and Carlita. Survivors: His loving wife, Adrienne; brothers, Donn (Diane) of Arizona, Deane (Jean) of California; children, David of Colorado, Michael (Leslie) of California, Christopher of California, Jennifer of California, Carrie (David Furr) of New York, Christina of Tennessee and Cherie (Ethan Moore) of North Carolina; grandchildren, Aja McCardle, Haley Plew, Sheridan Plew, McKenna Pacheco, Seth Pacheco, Kendall Plew, Ingram Moore, Sparrow Moore and Benjamin Furr; and one great-grandson.Published in Star-Telegram on Jan. 1, 2017
