Death

John “Carroll Brown” Thompson of Piedmont, 81, husband of Loretta “Katie” Furr Thompson, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 26 at his home. Born on June 22, 1942, in Piedmont, he was the son of the late Vivian Ilene Brown Bishop. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1961 and served in the Korean War, He was employed with VF Trucking (Wrangler). He was a Perpetual Life member of the Grove Station Masonic Lodge #166 A.F.M. and a Shriner. In addition to his wife he is survived by daughters, Beverly Beckman, Susan Matkin, and Janiece McMillan; sons, Brad Singleton, and Bruce Singleton; sister, Eileen Lollis; nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Visitation was October 2 at Gray Mortuary, Pelzer. At his request, there will be no other services. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Tunnel to Towers Foundation at T2T.org.
