Death

Ms. Daphne Martin Furr, 85, of 5686 Dana Dr. died April 4, 2021 at home. Visitation is at 1 p.m. followed by a service at McEwen Funeral Service at 2 p.m. at 5716 Monroe Road, Charlotte, N.C. Burial is at 3 p.m. at Sharon Memorial Park. Ms. Furr owned and operated an insurance agency for years and worked at Furr Realty Insurance Company. She was also a Notary Public. She spent several years as a foster parent with 32 foster children over the years. She was a member of First Wesleyan Methodist Church. “Daphne was a mother to so many of Gods children and always put others before herself.” Survivors include her son, Bobby Furr Jr & (Laurie Furr) of Mooresville: daughters, Ms. Cathy Bottenfield & (Jimmy Bottenfield) of Iron Station, Ms. Becky McAlister & (Allen McAlister) of Mooresville, Ms. Cindy Drye & (Kevin Drye) of Mount Pleasant, Ms. Wanda Kirkley & (Mike Kirkley) of Oak Island. Preceded in death are her husband, Bobby Van Furr Sr., twin brother, Douglas Ray Martin, and sister Joyce Martin Burnette. Ms. Furr has 19 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild. She also had a loving companion of 25 years, Roy Johns.
