Death
CONCORD Lillian Burleyson Butler, 90, of Concord, passed away on Friday, Sept. 19, 2014, at the Brian Center Health and Rehab in Concord. Lillian was born on Oct. 4, 1923 in Cabarrus County, daughter of the late Clyde Furr Burleyson and Ruth Hagler Johnson. Lillian attended Concord High School, and graduated from high school in Virginia. She had worked for various mills in the area, in the E.R. At CMC Northeast and then retired from Southern Mill as a payroll clerk in 1991. Lillian was a member of Rocky Ridge United Methodist Church, a member of the Methodist Women, the Hot Dog Committee, a Sunday School teacher and she was the Sunday School secretary for a number of years. Lillian loved to read, enjoyed bird watching and had a passion for animals. In addition to her parents, Lillian is preceded in death by her husband, Benton Butler, Jr. Lillian is survived by her son, Michael John Rudawsky and wife, Sandra, of Concord; daughter, Frances Hinson Holcomb and husband, Sonny, of Concord; grandchildren, LeAnne Holcomb Daining and husband, Doug, of Concord and Chris Sweet and wife, Lisa, of Brooklyn, N.Y.; great-grandchildren, Wurth and Lula Sweet, of Brooklyn, N.Y.; "second daughter", Louise Gardner and husband, Bud, of Concord and their children, Scott Gardner, of Concord, Stephanie Waller and husband, Steve, of Concord, and Buddy Gardner and wife, Melissa, of Concord; and great-grandchildren, Gracie Hatchell, Lily and Madison Waller and Olivia Gardner, all of Concord. The Family would like to extend a special thanks to the entire staff of the Brian Center in Concord, for the excellent care they provided. There will be a private service held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, P.O. Box 96011, Washington, DC 20090-6011. Carolina Cremation of Salisbury and Charlotte is assisting the Butler family.Endnotes
