Death
WINTER HAVEN - Betty Carolyn Addington von Hahmann, 83, passed away on Tuesday, September 15, 2015, at her residence. Betty was born September 25, 1931, in Savannah, Georgia to Noel and Bessie Powell. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Winter Haven. She grew up in Miami, FL, and moved to Winter Haven in 1962. She worked at the Florida Citrus Showcase and as the office manager for 27 years for the Boston Red Sox in spring training and the summer instructional league at Chain-of-Lakes Park. Betty was preceded in death by husband Max Von Hahmann in 2014 and husband Bill Addington in 1991. She is survived by her brother Earl (Christy) Powell; daughters Lyn (Ronnie) Furr and Kathy (Buddy) Leis; sons Billy (Mary Jane) Addington and David (Dale) Addington; stepsons Randy (Karla) Von Hahmann and Karl Von Hahmann; grandchildren Allison Martin, Palmer Furr, Ryan Thompson, Lyndsey and Shannon Addington, John and Katlyn Addington, Kenneth, Kassidy and Kyle Von Hahmann; nine great-grandchildren; one nephew and two nieces. The family wishes to express our gratitude to everyone who helped Betty on her journey including the staff of Cornerstone Hospice and LifeCare of Winter Haven, and her many friends who stayed in touch with her. A celebration of Betty's life will be held Saturday, September 19, 2015, at 2:00 PM at First Presbyterian Church, Winter Haven.
