Death
James Edward Halstead, 66, of Mount Gilead, passed away late Monday evening at his home. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 12, 2015 at Little River United Methodist Church. Rev. Casey Harris will officiate and burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 Saturday Evening at Edwards Funeral Home of Mt. Gilead. Mr. Halstead was born January 11, 1949 in Cumberland County to the late Lewis Eddie Halstead and Ruby Mae Rowell Halstead. He was owner and operator of Halstead Enterprises and was a 35 year employee of Jordan Lumber Company. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy. He was a member of Little River United Methodist Church and was a member of Blackmer Lodge 127. He is survived by his wife, Judy East Halstead of the home; son, Adam Halstead and wife Ray of Seven Lakes; daughter, Jennifer Halstead Furr and husband, Adam of Wilkesboro; brother, David Halstead and wife, Sandra of Clarksville, Tenn.; sister, Debbie Halstead of Memphis, Tenn.; grandchildren, Wesley Furr, Joshua Furr, LilyAnah Halstead, Leila Halstead and Jameson Halstead. James looked upon the late Robert and Olive Glock as his parents and Bobby Glock and wife, Helen of Hope Mills, Cindy Bell and husband, Sam of Myrtle Beach, S.C., Geddie Autry of Supply and Steven Autry and wife, Paula of Hope Mills as brothers and sisters. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Memorials may be made to: Little River United Methodist Church or St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.Endnotes
