EL DORADO - Lomax, Stanley R., 76, Aug. 12, 1938 Jan. 24, 2015, passed away at his home surrounded by his loved ones. Stan was born on August 12, 1938, in Vinita, OK; the son of Dale H. and Jeanette (Hood) Lomax. Stan was united in marriage to Karen (Furr) on July 1, 1961, in Oklahoma City. Stan attended the University of Oklahoma and graduated in May of 1962, with a BS degree in Chemical Engineering. They moved to El Dorado where Stan began his career at Skelly Oil in 1962. He enjoyed a long career retiring in March of 1996, from Texaco Refining and Marketing as Assistant Plant Manager of Technical Services. Stan enjoyed fishing and was as an avid golfer. He served as an Elder of the First Christian Church in El Dorado and was a member of the Foundation Board. His greatest joy was his family which includes his wife of 53 years, Karen Lomax of El Dorado; son, Scott Lomax of Skiatook, OK; daughter, Kara (John) Gardner of Richardson, TX; grandchildren, Tyson Hilyard of Wichita and Ashlyn Gardner of Richardson, TX; and sister, Luana Jo Catlin of Broken Arrow, OK. Stan was preceded in death by his parents. A memorial service celebrating his life will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 29, at the First Christian Church in El Dorado led by Pastor Stan Seymour. The family invites friends to join them immediately following the service in Parrish Hall for fellowship. Memorial contributions in his name may be directed to the Foundation Board of the First Christian Church, 300 W. Central, El Dorado, KS, 67042. Carlson Funeral Home is serving the family.
