Laverla Yeager, age 84, of Mechanicsburg, passed away Wednesday, March 19, 2014 at Hershey Medical Center surrounded by her loving family. Born December 20, 1929 in Mechanicsburg, she was a daughter of the late Blaine and Goldie (Pease) Hurley. Laverla was well known in the Mechanicsburg community and loved very much by all the people whose lives she touched. A loving, caring and selfless individual, she always put others before herself. After retiring from the Mechanicsburg School District, Laverla worked with her family at Keller House Senior Living, owned by her son and daughter-in-law, where she was the cook and enjoyed the company of the residents and staff. She was a member of Trindle Spring Lutheran Church, Mechanicsburg where she was active with the Retirement Group and had been a volunteer with Meals on Wheels. Laverla was blessed with the love and companionship of many friends with which she traveled, participated in several card clubs, enjoyed movies and dining together. She was preceded in death by her husband Clifford Yeager and her brothers Francis, Vernon and Milton Hurley. Her sweet loving presence will be missed by her three children, Kathleen Furr, Tim Yeager and wife Elenita, Teresa and husband Brian Gongloff. She adored and loved to spoil her eight grandchildren, Jennifer Peterson, Abbie and Becky Gongloff, Michael, Brandon, Christian and Rachel Yeager and Megan Cirilo and her eight great grandchildren. Funeral services will be 3:00 p.m. Sunday, March 23, 2014 at Trindle Spring Lutheran Church, 14 State Road, Mechanicsburg where there will be a viewing from 1:30 p.m. Her pastor, the Rev. Richard G. Lorenz will officiate. Burial will be 11:00 a.m. Monday in Trindle Spring Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to New Hope Ministries, 5228 E.
