Death

Mr. Neil Archie Priest, 87, of Sanford passed away on Sunday, February 9, 2014 at his home. A celebration of life will be held on Wednesday, February 12, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at Cox Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Chaplain Ken Rahal officiating. Burial will follow in Lakeview Cemetery in Vass with military honors. Neil was born in Vass, North Carolina on May 11, 1926 to John Hubert and Bertha Furr Priest. He was retired from Sprint Telephone Company and served his country as a World War II Veteran with the United States Navy. He enjoyed watching the birds, saving seeds from a delicious watermelon, reading, watching ball games on the TV but most of all he enjoyed eating southern cooking. He was a very kind and gentle person never saw a stranger laughed and joked with everyone. Neil will always be remembered and missed by many. He is survived by one brother, Lonnie Priest of Vass; step-daughter, Joan Hendricks of Carthage; two step-grandchildren, Richard Evans, Keith Evans; and a host of nieces and nephews; a very special friend and caregiver, Pat McEvers of Sanford. He was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn Emmerson Priest; parents, John Hubert and Bertha Furr Priest; sister, Mary Ann Bibey; brother, John Albert Priest .
