Death

Martha Denmark Rouse, of Huntersville, formerly of Kinston, died on Tuesday, April 30, 2002 at The Oaks. She was born in Kinston in 1907 and was preceded in death by her son, Ross E. Rouse, Jr. A memorial service will be held Saturday, May 4, at 10:30 AM at St. Peter's Episcopal Church, Denver, NC. She was a lifetime member of Presbyterian Church, Kinston and retired from Denmark's Florist. In her later years, she was a regular volunteer at Mary's Soup Kitchen. One of "Nana's" favorite activities was making her cheese biscuits. She is survived by her daughters, Winifred Allen and husband, Don, of Houston, Emily Furr and husband, Bill, of Denver; grandchildren, Don, Mike, Susan, Drew, Jeanne, Adam, Mark, Tom, Elizabeth, Laura and 15 great grandchildren. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to the First Presbyterian Church, 2101 North Heritage Street, Kinston, NC 28501 or St. Peter's Episcopal Church, Fairfield Church Road, Denver, NC 28037. Arrangements are in the care of Raymer Funeral Home in Huntersville.
