Death
Joined Co.D, "Stanly Yankee Hunters" on 29 Jul. 1861, wounded at Malvern Hill, Va. on 1 Jul. 1862; apparently lost right forefinger as leave was granted for 30 days after that. During the "Pettigrew / Trimble" Charge at Gettysburg on 3 Jul. 1863, he was fatally wounded in the face and breast and left on the battlefield.Endnotes
