GREENSBORO — Helen Blake, 90, died Saturday, April 6, 2013 at Friends Home-West. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, April 9, 2013 at Parkway Baptist Church beginning at 1 p.m. with viewing prior to the start of the service. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery. Mrs. Blake was born December 26, 1922 in Elberton, Georgia to the late Nicholas Salios and Emma Olgatti Salios. She had worked for many years as an office administrator prior to retirement. During her lifetime, she was an active member of several churches and most recently at Parkway Baptist. She was active in many areas of the church, giving of her time and talents as long as she was able. Helen also was a former member of the Gate City Jaycettes and the Eastern Star. Due to her family's Greek heritage, she also participated in activities at the Dormition of Theotokis Greek Orthodox Church. Survivors include her husband Charles David Blake; son Mike Blake and wife Penny of Greensboro; daughter Carla Blake Furr and husband Gary of Ventnor, NJ; brothers Dr. Nicholas Salios and wife Rose of Plymouth Meeting, PA; Constantine Salios of Huntington Beach, CA; three grandchildren Kenny Schoolmeester, Patrick Schoolmeester and Stephen Blake. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. on Monday, April 8, 2013 at Forbis and Dick-Guilford Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to the Shriner's Children's Hospital, 950 West Farris Road, Greenville, SC 29605.
