Death
MIDLAND Carl Edward "Ed" Hartsell, 81, took the hand of his heavenly Father Friday, July 13, 2012, at Carolinas Medical Center NorthEast in Concord. This was also the wedding anniversary of Mr. Hartsell and his wife, Frances. Mr. Hartsell was born Aug. 23, 1930, to the late Huston and Carrie Hartsell. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Conard Hartsell; sister, Edna Vick; and two grandchildren, Lauren and Justin Hartsell. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in Korea, and a member of St. Stephens Wesleyan Church. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m., Sunday, July 15, at Hartsell Funeral Home in Midland. The funeral service will be at 2 p.m., Monday, July 16, at St. Stephens Wesleyan Church, 7601 Brush Arbor Rd., Concord, officiated by the Rev. Gary Morris. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Military graveside rites will be presented by the Cabarrus County Veterans Honor Guard. At other times, the family will meet at his home. He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Laura "Frances" Furr Hartsell, of the home; children, Allen Hartsell and wife, Kathy, Vane-ssa Kendall and hus-band, Jack, Gary Hart-sell and wife, Marina, Larry Hartsell and wife, Deloris, and Todd Hart-sell and wife, Robbie; grandchildren, Melissa Burris and husband, Seth, Lindsey Cragan and husband, Clayton, Brandon Hartsell, Sarah Kendall, Amber Hartsell, Courtney Hartsell, Mich-ael Simpson, Stephen Hartsell and Kaitlyn Hartsell; great-grand-child, Camden Edward Simpson; and sister, Clara Huneycutt. Memorials may be made to St. Stephens Men's Fellowship, 7601 Brush Arbor Rd., Concord, NC 28025, or theAmerican Cancer Society , 6000 Fairview Dr., Suite 200, Charlotte, NC 28210.
