Death
A service will be Friday for Jean Carolyn Cline of Hollywood, a state Department of Health and Rehabilitative Services counselor for the past 12 years. Ms. Cline died Wednesday at her home. She was 61. Born in Concord, N.C., she moved to Hollywood 20 years ago. Ms. Cline was dean of the Kansas City Art Institute in 1965 and 1966. She was director of admissions and testing at Barber-Scotia College in Concord, N.C. She was also professor with the 13 colleges project at the North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University in Greensboro, N.C., in 1968 and 1969. Ms. Cline graduated from Catawba College in Salisbury, N.C., with a bachelor’s degree in English. She received her master’s in behavioral science at the University of Missouri in Kansas City. She was an accomplished songwriter and published There’s Nothing like a Democratic Dame. Survivors include two sons, Quentin “Beam” Furr of Hollywood and Robert “Luke” Furr of Sharon, Mass.; a daughter, Tiffany Lee Grantham of Hollywood; a brother, Robert T. Cline Jr. of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; and three grandchildren. A service will be at 9 a.m. Friday at St. Maurice Catholic Church in Fort Lauderdale.
