Death
GASTONIA - Wade W. Hellard, 94, went to be with Jesus on July 3, 2012, at the V.A. Hospital, Salisbury. Mr. Hellard was born March 15, 1918 in Iredell County, son of the late Ross and Minnie Deaton Hellard. He served our Country in the US Army, US Navy, and was a retired contractor. A funeral service will be held 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Greene Funeral Service, 1503 S. York Road, Gastonia, officiated by the Rev. Buddy Pigg. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2:15 p.m. before the service at the funeral home. The graveside committal and military will be 5 p.m. at Mt. Harmony Baptist Church in Matthews. He is survived by his daughters, Glenda and Gerald Furr of Charlotte, Jane and Doyle Berryman of Gastonia, Judy and Larry Lilly of Monroe, Marlene and Mac Lofton of Richmond Hill, Ga.; 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by: his wife, Edith Mae Hellard of 50 years; brother, Roy Hellard; sisters, Margaret Watson, Nellie Hellard, Frankie Shipman, Elsie Griffin; grandchild, Jonathan Allen Berryman. In lieu of flowers the family would like memorials to be made to Mt. Harmony Baptist Church - Building Fund, 2817 Mt. Harmary Church Road, Matthews, NC 28105, where he attended for the last 3 years.
