Death

Services for Merline G. Brock, 88, of Cairo, GA, will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Monday, September 5, 2011, at Pine Level Baptist Church, Cairo, GA, with interment following in Brock Cemetery, Vada, GA.  Rev. Roger Brinkley and Rev. Jim Weaver will officiate.  Mrs. Brock passed away on Friday, September 2, 2011, at her home in Cairo. Mrs. Brock was born on June 1, 1923, in Midland City, AL, to the late James William and Carrie Frances Kelly Gleaton.  She was married to  J. G. Brock, who preceded her in death on February 14, 2000.  Mrs. Brock was a homemaker and a member of Pine Level Baptist Church. Survivors include:  son, Art Brock of Cairo, GA;  daughters and sons-in-law, Charlene and Franklin McGalliard of Boston, GA, Janice and Lamar Furr of Tallahassee, FL;  grandchildren and spouses, Teresa and Bob Wilson of Greenville, SC, Tina and Tim Phillips of Boston, GA, Shawn and Kim Whigham of Quincy, FL, Erica and John Sessions of Cairo, GA, Brandon Brock of Cairo, GA;  great-grandchildren, Robert and Jay Wilson of Greenville, SC, Zackery and Anna Phillips of Boston, GA, Joseph Whigham of Tallahassee, FL, Kaleb Whigham of Quincy, FL, Connor Sessions of Cairo, GA;  sister, Inelle Sapp of Jacksonville, FL;  brother, Earliss Gleaton of Ohio. Mrs. Brock was preceded in death by her husband, parents, sister, Audie Mae Bass, brothers, Bill Sykes, Eugene Gleaton, Hiawatha Gleaton and Delton Gleaton. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday, September 4, 2011, from 4 until 6:00 p.m.
