Robert Wayne Gardner 1928 ~ 2011 Our beloved husband, father, and Grandfather Robert Wayne Gardner, passed away two days short of his 83rd birthday. He passed away from complications due to an intestinal obstruction. He was born July 24, 1928 in St. George, Utah to Wayne C. Gardner and Elizabeth McArthur. Gardner. He served in the South Africa Mission for the LDS Church from 1948 to 1950. He married Geniel Ellsworth on June 5, 1951 in the St. George Temple. He served in the Counter - Intelligence Corps during theKorean Conflict. He graduated from Dixie Junior College, Utah State University, and received his Masters and PhD from Cornell University. He taught at the University of Arizona for two years and Brigham Young University for 35 years in the Animal Science Department. He served faithfully in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He spent a great part of his life researching chemical intolerances to help himself and others. He was a soft spoken, gentle, and kind man who was a great listener and cared for us all. He is survived by his wife Geniel, his children Wayne, Kenneth (Fanette), Brent (Kristine), Julene (Keith) Furr, and Sylvia (Darwin) Russon and his siblings Betty Lou (Ken) Liechty, Reed (Jackie) Gardner, Katherine (Ralph) Staheli, 29 grandchildren, and 25 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Mary Ada Grossen Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 26, 2011 at 11 a.m. at the Orem Park 4th Ward Building at 50 South 750 West Orem, UT. A viewing will be held 9:30 to 10:30 prior to the services. A viewing will also be held Monday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the Walker Sanderson Funeral Home, 656 East 800 North, Orem, UT.
