Death

INDIAN LAND - Mr. Willie Andrew Potts, 100, died Saturday, May 7, 2011, at Magnolia Manor in Rock Hill. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 11, 2011, at Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Michael Ritter officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. Born in the Pleasant Valley Community of Indian Land, S.C., Mr. Potts was one of 13 children of the late June Dallas Potts and Bessie Belle Patterson Potts. He was retired from Rock Hill Printing and Finishing, where he was a calender operator. Mr. Potts was a member of Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church and enjoyed fishing and bird hunting. Surviving are his wife, Juanita Johnson Potts; his daughter, Edith Potts Jones (William Harry Jones) of Clover; his son, Lawrence Terry Potts Sr. (Theresa Furr Potts) of Indian Land; his brother, Glenn Potts of Indian Land; his sister, Sarah Lillie Sigwart of Indian Land; stepchildren, Carl Dover (Angelia), Diane Toney (William) and Harold Dover (Ruth); four grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and nine step-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Jessie Belle Berry Potts. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, May 10, 2011, at Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall.
