Death
CONCORD Mr. James Randolph Mingea, 88, formerly of Midland, passed away on Thursday, May 5, 2011, at Avante of Concord. He was born on April 18, 1923, in Dinwiddie County, Va. He was the son of the late Edward Franklin and Nora Lee Smith Mingea. Mr. Mingea was a veteran of the U.S. Army and a retired long-haul truck driver from Moss Trucking in Charlotte. He is preceded in death by his first wife, Anne Peacock Mingea, and his second wife, Carolyn Thornton Mingea. He is survived by his son, Tony Thornton, of Midland; daughters, Laura Pelfrey, of Washington; Zona Peine, of Charlotte; Carolyn Nicholson, of Fla.; Tracy Soffa, of Harrisburg; Patty Maynard, of Charlotte, and Barbara Furr, of Midland; 12 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. No services are planned at this time. Hartsell Funeral Home, Concord, is serving the Mingea family.
