He was born on August 14, 1952 in Emerson to Doris and the late Travis Waller. He grew up in Emerson, where he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time with his family. Sammie was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He enjoyed nothing more than to gather with his family and friends trading his famous tall tales. He was preceded in death by his father, Travis Waller. He is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Kay Furr Waller; mother, Doris Waller of Emerson; son, Jamie (Caroline) Waller and daughter Sloane of Magnolia; daughter, Karen (Casey) Whitehead and children Ryder, Tyce and Quintin of Magnolia; daughter, Katie (Steven) Dearman and children Rylie Kate and Grayson of Zachary, LA; sister, Linda (Joe) Mullins of Emerson; brother, Gary (Beth) Waller of Warner-Robbins, GA; sister, Jan (David) Waddell of Texarkana; brother, Ross Waller of Warner-Robbins, GA; and a host of extended family and friends. For the last few years, Sammie resided at Wentworth Place Cottages where many wonderful staff members lovingly assisted with his care. The family is grateful for the friendships and love of the staff and fellow residents. The family also greatly appreciates the services of Life Touch Hospice. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Sunday, December 30 at Lewis Funeral Home, Inc. in Magnolia. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Monday, December 31 at First Baptist Church with Bro.
