Death
Kent Island -- Adam J. Watkowski Jr. of Kent Island, formerly of Locust Point, died Sept. 23, 2006, at his home. He was 76. Born Dec. 17, 1929, he was the son of the late Adam A. and Frances A. Watkowski. He attended Our Lady of Good Counsel grammar school in Locust Point and Loyola High School in Blakefield. He worked as a carpenter for the Locust Point docks and also for the B&O Railroad. In 1949, he married his high school sweetheart Margaret R. Schamberger, also of Locust Point, and had three children, Cathy, Mary Margaret and Adam. He worked for Domino Sugar, retiring after 35 years of service as shipping supervisor. During that time, he received his associate's degree in business administration from Penn State University. During his life, he was an active member in Knights of Columbus, Councils 4606 and 7941, Elks Lodge 2576, Moose Gold Club, Island Idlers, Kent Island Yacht Club, TOGOM Club and Pigeon Club. He coordinated and catered many functions for most of the above groups. In addition to his wife and children, he is survived by eight grandchildren. He is also survived by sisters Genevieve Welle, Sister Frances Watkowski SSND and Theresa Smith; and brother Milton Watkowski BS PD. A funeral mass was held Thursday, Sept. 28, at St. Christopher's Catholic Church, Chester. Interment will be at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery, Baltimore. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Christopher's Catholic Church Building Fund, 1816 Harbor Drive, Chester, MD 21619 or Hospice of Queen Anne's Inc, 423 Thompson Creek Road, Stevensville, MD.Record Observer, Centreville Md, 9/29/2006
