Death
CONCORD - Doris Ann Garmon Broome, 71, of 261 Pitts School Road, died Thursday, Sept. 8, 2005, at NorthEast Medical Center. The family will receive friends Saturday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Hartsell Funeral Home, Concord. The funeral service will be 3 p.m. Sunday at Roberta Baptist Church with the Rev. Steve Pennington officiating. Burial will be at Carolina Memorial Park, Kannapolis. Mrs. Broome was born Oct. 10, 1933, in Cabarrus County the daughter of the late Baxter Garmon and the late Ida Belle Mason Garmon Ford. She was a member of Roberta Baptist Church, and had been employed by Cannon Mills as a spinner. Mrs. Broome was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Lee Broome; a brother, Joseph Baxter Garmon; sisters, Reece Queen, Irene Queen, Jessie Clay and Vera Kennedy; and stepbrothers, Jerry Ford and Dick Ford; and stepsister, Collette Smith. Survivors include, her son, Bobby Wayne Garmon and wife, Paulette of Kannapolis; daughters, Cynthia Thomas and husband, Marshall, of Concord, Carlene Furr and husband, Gary, and Jody White and husband, Gene, of all of Concord; sons, Carl Junior Broome and wife, Tammy, of Davidson and Michael Eugene Broome and wife, Lori Ann, of Concord; 17 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren.Hartsell Funeral Home, Concord, is in charge of arrangements.
