Death

STANLEY - David Ward Sr., 63, passed away at his residence on Oct. 9, 2010. He was born in Buncombe County on Feb. 7, 1947 to the late Liston and Myrtle Hurst Ward. He is survived by his wife, Ruth Jones Ward of the home; son, David Ward Jr. and wife Nora of Stanley; three daughters, Renee Furr and husband Roger of Alexis, Dee Dee Bradley and husband Mike of Stanley, Reginia Cort and husband Bobby of Alexis; sister, Virginia Pruitt of Asheville; nine grand-children, Justin, Josh, Brandon, Johnathan, Chris, Austin, Haley, Andrew, Felicia; three great-grandchildren, Calab, Dallas, Addison; and several nieces and nephews. A visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Greene Funeral Service, South Chapel.The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Greene Funeral Service, South Chapel with the Rev. Mike Whisnant officiating. Interment will follow at Westview Cemetery in Bessemer City. Pallbearers for the service will be David Ward Jr., Justin Furr, Josh Furr, Brandon Ward, Johnathan Cort, Chris Bradley, Austin Bradley, Andrew Brad-ley, Kenneth Whitted and Dallas Griffin. Memorials can be made to Gaston Hospice, PO Box 3984, Gastonia, NC 28054. Arrangements are with Greene Funeral Service, South Chapel Gastonia.
