Death
KANNAPOLIS - Rachel Lorene Johnson Wagner, 86, of 2120 Englewood St., died at Tucker Hospice House in Kannapolis on Saturday, May 29, 2010. Mrs. Wagner was born on Jan. 6, 1924, in Mt. Holly, the daughter of the late Lawrence H. Johnson and the late, Annie Mae Burris Johnson. In addition to her parents, Rachel is preceded in death by her husband, Charles C. Wagner Jr. who died on June 13, 2008; a brother, Harley Gene Johnson; and a sister, Edith Johnson Deal. Mrs. Wagner grew up in Landis, and graduated from Landis High School. She had been employed with Cannon Mills Company from 1948 to 1968 in the Sewing Dept. She was a member of Landis First United Methodist Church and enjoyed gardening, cooking and in general, caring for her family. Survivors include her son, Ronald Gene Wagner and wife, Paula of Kannapolis; a daughter, Rebecca Wagner Stewart of Goldsboro; four grandchildren, Jamie Stewart Ginn and David M. Stewart both of LaGrange, Jason W. Wagner and wife, Mary, and Jeremy C. Wagner both of Kannapolis; two sisters, Ruby J. Thomas of Baltimore, Md. and Kathryn J. Hooper of Kannapolis. The funeral service for Mrs. Wagner will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday, June 1st at Whitley's Funeral Home Chapel conducted by Chaplain Ric Durham. Burial will take place at Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m. before the service. At other times they will be at the family home.
