Death

Peggy Hathcock Furr, age 87, of Oakboro, NC, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 17, 2026, at Atrium Cabarrus in Concord, NC. Peggy was one of ten children born to Noah Webster Hathcock and Clora Helms Hathcock of Stanfield, NC. She was preceded in death by five sisters and four brothers: Pearl Hathcock, Blanche Rushing, Helen Mauney, Mavis Smith, Patsy Thomas, Noah Hathcock Jr., Homer Hathcock, Curtis Hathcock, and Kenneth (Max) Hathcock. Peggy is survived by her loving husband, Boyd Furr of Oakboro, NC; her two sons, Chuck (Dianne) Furr of Kernersville, NC, and Mark (Julie) Furr of Albemarle, NC. She is also survived by three grandchildren: Joshua (Jagoda) Furr of Warsaw, Poland; Noah (Carrie) Furr of Harmony, NC; and Samantha (Kevin) Goff of Broken Arrow, OK. Additionally, she leaves behind six cherished great-grandchildren: Henry Furr, Miles Furr, Charlie Furr, Jeremiah Furr, Ella Kate Furr, and Waylon Goff. Peggy will be remembered for her kind heart, gentle spirit, and unwavering love for her family. She found great joy in baking and caring for those she loved most. Her home was always filled with warmth, good food, and the comfort of a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her faith, compassion, and quiet strength left a lasting impression on everyone who knew her. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until 1:45 PM on Friday, June 12, at East Albemarle Church of God, located at 1110 E. Main Street, Albemarle, NC. A Celebration of Life service will begin at 2:00 PM in the church sanctuary, followed by a reception in the fellowship hall. The service will be officiated by Reverend Chris Boyd, pastor of East Albemarle Church of God, with special memorial remarks by Reverend Harry Harward and Reverend Rick Brackett. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to East Albemarle Church of God. Hartsell Funeral Home of Albemarle is serving the Furr family.
