Death
Sharon Adele Newton, 72, of Homosassa, FL, was called home on Thurs, Feb 4, 2021, with her family by her side. Sharon was born in Northampton, MA on March 22, 1948 to the late Norman Judge and Muriel Ice Ellis, and is preceded in death by her stepmother, Ramona Judge; sister, Noni Cox; and stepsister, Marylyn Judge. She moved to Florida, as a young child, where her sister, Darlene Spence and her nephew, Mark Daniel Judge both still reside. Sharon, a graduate of Crystal River High, has called Citrus County home for nearly 60 years. Sharon joined the Newton family, shortly after meeting Craig Nesbitt Newton, her devoted husband of 54 years. She is also preceded in death by her husband's parents, James Nesbitt and Annie Janet Newton, whom she loved dearly. Sharon adored her time spent as a teacher's aide at Homosassa Elementary, working with special education students, and she took pride in working side-by-side with Craig, building their family business, Newton's Well Drilling. However, if asked, Sharon proudly said her greatest accomplishment was being a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was known as "Mama" to her 3 daughters: Theresa Newton Furr, of Sterling, AK; Regina Newton, of Chiefland, FL, with her fiancé, Steven Studstill; and Kyley Newton, of Homosassa, FL. She was known as "BeeDee" to her granddaughter, Shannon Beck, of Homosassa, FL, with her fiancé, Justin Lee, as well as to her great-grandson, Bryce Riley, of Homosassa, FL. Sharon was also affectionately known as "Mama" and "BeeDee" to numerous others, who may not have been related to her, but she considered as part of her "extended family." Sharon was a role model and a nurturing caregiver to her entire family and beyond. She derived immense joy from helping others, doing so selflessly and unconditionally, by always putting others first. Through the years, Sharon loved visiting with friends, attending church, and entertaining in her home. It was no secret that Christmas was by far her favorite holiday, boy did she enjoy decorating for it! So much so, that she would leave trees up year-round, in nearly every room of the house. Other times of the year, Sharon was kept busy by being involved in each of her family members' lives, from attending car shows with her husband, to spending days past at the skating rink with the girls, or vacationing in the mountains, helping with classroom parties and field trips, to attending horse shows. No matter the event, Sharon was always there, with a smiling face, hair and nails done, dressed in her glitzy attire, ready to actively enjoy life and create precious memories with those she loved. Please join us to celebrate Sharon's life on Thurs, Feb 11th at the Crystal River Church of God. Visitation will begin at 12:00PM, with services beginning at 2:00PM. Interment will follow at Stage Stand Cemetery, Homosassa, FL. Services entrusted to Wilder Funeral Home, Homosassa, FL. www.wilderfuneral.com.Published in Citrus County Chronicle on Feb. 10, 2021
