Death

CHARLOTTE - Randy, 64, of Charlotte devoted husband and father, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 8, 2009, after a courageous battle with lung cancer. He was born Feb. 4, 1945, son of the late Mack B. and Lulu Furr Haigler. Randy was a butcher who worked for Bi-Lo Supermarket in Charlotte for 11 years. Born in Monroe, he was a 35-year resident of Charlotte and enjoyed spending time with his family and NASCAR racing. He is survived by his wife Barbara and his sons and daughters-in-laws Brian and Sarah Haigler of Charlotte, and Jeffrey and Kristen Haigler of Charlotte; daughter Tammy Haigler of Concord; brother, John Butch Hartsell and wife, Diane, of Midland; granddaughter, Macayla Haigler of Concord; aunt, Rose Lee Baker of Midland and nephews, Johnny Hartsell and wife, Marsha, and Christopher Hartsell. A gathering of remembrance will be held at Hankins and Whittington Funeral Service, Thursday evening Dec. 10, 2009 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Hospice and Palliative Care Charlotte Region, 1420 E. 7th St., Charlotte, NC 28204. The family would like to express its sincere thanks and gratitude to the doctors, nurses and caregivers of Hospice and Palliative Care Charlotte Region.
