Death
Mr. Walter Currie Furr Jr., 62 of 92 W. Gadsden St. died Saturday afternoon in a local hospital. Mr. Furr was a native of Belan, Miss., and had lived in Pensacola for six years before moving to Memphis, Tenn., where he lived for three years and then returned to Pensacola. He was a teacher at Pensacola Junior College, a member of the Baptist Church and a veteran of World War Il. Survivors include his widow, Sarah Furr of Pensacola; his mother, Mrs. W. C. Furr Sr. of Memphis, Tenn.; a brother, Stacy Furr of Hunting Beach, Calif. and a niece, Mrs. Kevin Ray of Oakland, Calif. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Belen Baptist Church in Belen, Miss. Memorial services were 2:30 p.m. Sunday in the Fisher-Pou chapel with the members of Pensacola Junior College staff conducting services. The body will be sent to the Kimbro Funeral Home in Marks, Miss., for additional services and burial. The family requests that memorials be made to the American Cancer Society.
