Virginia Smith, 84, of Mineral Wells, died Thursday, May 28, 2009, at Palo Pinto nursing home, surrounded by her loving family. Service is 10 a.m. Sunday, May 31, at Baum-Carlock Bumgardner Funeral Home with Pastor Ray Christman officiating. Interment will be at Mount Hope Cemetery in Independence, Kan., at 3 p.m. Monday. She was born Feb. 10, 1925, in Des Moines, Iowa, to Edith and Charles Maricle. On Nov. 21, 1943, she married Marion Smith. Virginia was a homemaker for most of her life, concentrating on taking care of her husband and children. She later started selling Avon. She was a member of the Mineral Wells Seventh-Day Adventist Church. Survivors include daughters, Marian Kay Larsen and husband, John, of Vernon Hills, Ill., Nancy Burns and husband, Randy, of Neodesha, Kan., Sandra Quigley and husband, Jim, of Graham, Texas, and Brenda Furr and husband, Kenny, of Mineral Wells; sons, James Smith and wife, Linda, of Little Rock, Ark.; Wallace Smith and wife, Debbie, of Mission, Texas, Dwain Smith and wife, Jeanette, of Davenport, Fla., and Jeffrey Smith and wife, Virginia. of Weatherford; brothers, Roscoe Maricle, Neil Eugene Maricle and Delmar Maricle; 21 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; and many friends.
