SALISBURY - Araminta Epting Harris, 84, of Salisbury, died Thursday, March 26, 2009, at the Lutheran Home at Trinity Oaks. She was born July 22, 1924, in Gastonia, to the late Colie McLaurin Epting and Minnie Fitts Epting. She attended Salisbury City Schools and graduated from Boyden High School in 1942. She was a lifelong member of St. John's Lutheran Church where she taught Kindergarten, Weekday Church School and Sunday School. She was also a Girl Scout Leader, served on the Church Council, and was a member of the Eva Peeler Sunday School class. She was active in Women of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. Araminta and her husband Burt traveled extensively to all 50 states and throughout the world. They enjoyed spending their weekends and summers with family and friends at their vacation home in Boone. Araminta will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 64 years, T. Burt Harris; daughter Montye Harris Furr and son-in-law Dr. Hal Furr of Salisbury, daughter Marcia Harris Echerd of Charlotte, daughter Renee Harris Bradshaw and son-in-law Chris Bradshaw of Salisbury; grandchildren Bradley Furr of Charlotte, Shelley Echerd Stover and husband Scot of Huntersville, Stacey Furr Wilson and husband Jeff of Charlotte, Nikki Echerd Coulter and husband Kevin of Charlotte, Stuart Bradshaw of Greensboro, Harris Lambert of Salisbury; and great-grandchildren Chloe, Lucy and Ryder Wilson of Charlotte. Araminta will be greatly missed; she looked at everyone through eyes of love and had a gift for making each person feel special. Service: A memorial service will be conducted 2 p.m. Monday, March 30 at St. John's Lutheran Church with the Rev. John Propst and Rev. Rhodes Woolly, officiating. A private family burial will be held. Visitation: The family will receive friends following the service in the church library; and at other times, the family will be at the home of her daughter, Montye Furr, 213 W. Thomas St. Memorials: May be made to St. John's Lutheran Church, Youth and Family Center, 200 W.
