Death
CONCORD - Edna Louise Ritchie Burris, 87, of 2452 Rock Hill Church Road, formerly of Powder Street, died Thursday, Dec. 11, 2008, at Five Oaks Manor. The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 2:45 p.m. at Southside Baptist Church, Concord. The funeral service will follow at 3 p.m., with the Rev. Joey Morrison and the Rev. Robert Leonard officiating. Burial will be at Carolina Memorial Park, Kannapolis. Mrs. Burris was born Nov. 3, 1921, in Cabarrus County, the daughter of the late Samuel Archie Ritchie and the late Mary Lucille (Castor) Ritchie. She was a homemaker. Mrs. Burris previously worked for Cannon Mills in Plant No. 2. She was a volunteer with Meals On Wheels and was previously a member of Kerr Memorial Baptist Church. She was a member of Southside Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by an infant son, William Archie Burris; brother, Donald Ritchie; and sister, Ruth Lambert. Survivors include her husband, Carl Burris; daughters, Linda (Burris) Albin, Carolyn (Burris) Owens and husband, Doyle, all of Concord, and Dianne (Burris) Furr of Albemarle; brothers, James Ritchie and Howard Ritchie, both of Concord; sister, Doris Cobert of Concord; grandchildren, Teresa Turnmire, Melody Koontz, Cathy Owens, Paul Blake, John Blake and Julie Lambert, Jeff Owens, Michelle Kendall, Tim Blake, Jason Furr, Amber Furr, Ashlyn Furr and Adam Lambert; 26 great-grandchildren; and 11 great-great-grandchildren; and special friend, Carol Wagner. The family will each be at their own respective homes. Memorials may be made at Southside Baptist Church, 561 Union Cemetery Road S.W., Concord, NC 28027.
