Notes
Death
A Charlotte man died late Tuesday when his speeding car crossed into the opposite lane on a neighborhood street in east Charlotte and hit another car head-on. Police said Jonathan Michael Furr, 49, was traveling twice the posted 25-mph speed limit when the cars collided at about 9:40 p.m. in the 4200 block of two-lane Winedale Lane, off Shamrock Drive. Alcohol use on Furr's part also appears to have contributed to the crash, Charlotte-Mecklenburg police said. Furr was not wearing a seat belt, police said. Medic pronounced Furr dead at the scene. The driver of the other car, Keyosha Laquanteria McVay, 23, was taken to the hospital with minor injuries. Police charged McVay with having no operator's license. Furr was arrested and jailed in September on a charge of driving while impaired, Mecklenburg County jail records show. Police ask that anyone with information about Tuesday's crash call Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600 or CMPD's Major Crash Investigation Unit at 704-432-2169.Endnotes
