The 1840 census for Perry Co., Kentucky lists 4 Whitaker households: Peter with 1 male under 5, 2 males 5-10, 1 male 30-40, 2 females under 5, 3 females 5-10 and 1 female 30-40......Isaac with 1 male 5-10, 1 male 30-40, 2 females under 5, 3 females 5-10 and 1 female 30-40....... Squire with 1 male under 5, one male 5-10 and 1 male 30-40, 1 female under 5 and 1 female 20-30.......Isaac with 2 males under 5, 2 males 5-10, 1 male 30-40, 1 male 60-70,1 female 5-10, 1 female 30-40 and 1 female 50-60.
He was literate. It appears that he and his wife gave or sold the home place to his son in law Isaac T. Whitaker and daughter Susanna and lived in a small house adjacent to their house for he is not listed as being a land owner in 1850 census and Isaac T. is listed as owning 800 acres.
