Death

CONCORD - Mr. Martin Luther Edwards, of 385 Queens Dr. passed away at his home Dec. 17, 2007. Funeral services will be 3:30 p.m. Wednesday at Wilkinson Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Mike Farley officiating. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2 to 3:30 p.m. Wednesday at Wilkinson Funeral Home. Martin was born Feb. 10, 1928, in Cabarrus County to Joseph A. and Grace Huneycutt Edwards. He retired from Cannon Mills Plant 10 after 49 years. He was a member of West Concord Baptist Church. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by three sons, Richard, Terry, and Bill Edwards. He is survived by his wife of over 57 years, Marlene Newton Edwards; sons, Lanny Edwards and Chris Edwards both of Concord; daughter, Cynthia Furr and husband Raymond of Concord; grandchildren, Jermey Edwards of Kannapolis and Katie Cochran of Concord and great granddaughter, Karleigh Edwards. Memorials may be made to West Concord Baptist Church, 225 Warren C. Coleman Blvd. S, Concord NC 28027. Wilkinson Funeral Home is serving the family.
