Death
Tuesday, September 25, 2007 — Susan Marie Furr Underwood, 48, of 32674 Austin Road, New London, died at 6;21 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 22, 2007, at her home. Her funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Hartsell Funeral Home's Lefler Memorial Chapel. The Rev. Leslee Wray and The Rev. Joe Smith will officiate and burial will be in Stanly Gardens of Memory. Born Jan, 10, 1959, in Holyoke, Mass., she was a daughter of Reather C. “R.C.” and Phyllis Mabry Furr of Albemarle, who survive, and was pottery instructor at Montgomery Community College. A son, Garry Lee Lanham II, preceded her in death. She is survived by her husband, Terry Joe Underwood of the home; a son, Daniel Joseph Underwood of the home; her parents; a brother Kelvin Carl Furr of Albemarle; two sisters, Cornetha Furr Holcomb and husband, Kyle, of Albemarle, and Caroline Furr Norton of Laurinburg; a brother-law, Tony Under-wood and wife, Saundra, of Albemarle; a sister-in-law, Tracy Burgess of Mt. Gilead; four nieces, Brittany, Lauren, Gabrielle and Jill; three nephews, Wesley, Scotty and Travis; and her mother-in-law and father-in-law Maxine and Ray Underwood of Albemarle. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Stanly County, 960 N. First St., Albemarle, NC 28001; or American Cancer Society 6000 Fairview Dr., Suite 200 Charlotte, NC 28210. The family received friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at Hartsell Funeral Home in Albemarle. At other times they met at her home, 32674 Austin Road, Albemarle.Endnotes
