Death
Miss Margaret Humphreys Neill, known to many simply as "Aunt Marg", passed to another life on Sunday, June 10, 2007. She was born on September 25, 1927, to Samuel Moss Neill and Margaret Humphreys Neill. Named for her mother, who died in childbirth, she was reared by her father and stepmother, Rose Campbell Neill. After graduating from Leland High School, she attended All Saints College in Vicksburg. She moved to Atlanta and finally settled near her sister, Rosemary, in Ocean Springs. She cared for Mrs. Louise Collins for many years. She was seen walking everywhere she went in Ocean Springs until health problems prevented. Her sister, nieces and nephews, including her namesake, Margaret, were made to feel especially loved and their friends to feel as part of the family. Jackie Prevost, who cared for her in her later years, became her true friend, whom she referred to as "the daughter she never had". She was sweet, loving and funny. When asked how she was feeling on her final illness, she replied, "Not worth a continental flip!, but she did not leave this earth without saying, "I love you, too." She is survived by her sister, Rosemary Furr, nieces and nephews, Margaret Barnett, Rebecca Ivester, Richard Theron Furr, Jr., Sara Schatz, Samuel Furr and Henry Furr, and her grand nieces and nephews, and by many Neill cousins in the Leland, MS., area. On Thursday, June 14, 2007, there will be an 11 AM memorial service at St. John's Episcopal Church with a short reception following. In lieu of flowers the family prefers memorials be made to St. John's Episcopal Church Building Fund, 705 Rayburn Street, Ocean Springs, MS. 39564. The Ocean Springs Chapel of Bradford O'Keefe Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.Endnotes
